Can you catch 2 viruses at
once?
The short answer...YES!
You can most definitely catch two viruses at the same time, whether it be two strains of COVID-19, for example, or the flu and COVID-19, two viruses can enter you system at the same time.
Studies took place in 2020 when COVID-19 was savaging the world in a global pandemic to see if catching two viruses at once would increase chances of dying, but it definitely will cause more strain to your body if you experience the worst symptoms of both. Since virus symptoms are all very similar, you might not realise you have caught two viruses at the same time. It will only be the combination of virus testing that will determine if you have both.
One of the best ways to protect yourself against catching two viruses at once is to keep up to date with any vaccines for flu or coronavirus, practice good hygiene when entering your house after being in public and when coughing or sneezing.
If you experience severe symptoms from either flu, covid-19, or both, make sure to contact your GP or, in severe cases, 111 or 999 if you feel you cannot breathe.
